Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will organize the Subhadra Shakti Mela 2025 at Janata Maidan from 22nd February to 2nd March, announced Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Friday. The event aims to celebrate the success of women entrepreneurs across the state, providing them with a platform to showcase their products and skills.
Addressing a press conference at Mission Shakti Bhawan, Parida outlined the details and objectives of the Subhadra Shakti Mela, which is being organized for the first time.
The nine-day grand exhibition will feature over 300 stalls run by Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Producer Groups (PGs) from across Odisha.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of handcrafted and organic products, highlighting the creativity, skill, and entrepreneurial spirit of women-led groups.
The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Women and Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism, Pravati Parida, along with Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, will attend as chief guests. Senior officials from the Odisha government will also be present.
The mela will showcase an array of authentic, high-quality, and sustainable products, including handicrafts, terracotta, bamboo crafts, handloom textiles, home essentials, health and wellness products, organic food items, spices, condiments, and millet-based delicacies.
Residents of Bhubaneswar and visitors from across the state can explore and purchase these unique products directly from women entrepreneurs, contributing to their economic empowerment.
The Subhadra Shakti Mela is more than just an exhibition; it is a celebration of women’s entrepreneurship and a platform for SHGs and PGs to connect with buyers, businesses, and market leaders. This will open doors for business expansion, financial growth, and networking opportunities.
By showcasing their products on such a large scale, SHGs will gain visibility and develop long-term market linkages, helping them increase their incomes and move closer to becoming Lakhpati Didis (women earning over Rs 1 lakh annually). This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering women through financial independence.
To ensure statewide participation and maximum reach, four regional melas will also be organized simultaneously in Puri, Malkangiri, Sambalpur, and Bolangir. These regional events aim to promote SHG products, attract local visitors, and provide more SHG members the opportunity to showcase their products beyond their districts.
By expanding these exhibitions across regions, the Mission Shakti department is ensuring that women entrepreneurs from every corner of Odisha receive equal opportunities for growth and success.
The Subhadra Shakti Mela 2025 reflects the Odisha government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and financial inclusion.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the state has taken significant strides in strengthening SHG-led entrepreneurship, providing market access, and capacity building.
The Lakhpati Didi initiative has been pivotal in helping women achieve economic self-sufficiency, and this mela is another step toward that goal.
The event will offer visitors a chance to explore exceptional craftsmanship, experience a diverse range of organic and millet-based products, and contribute to the promotion of self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
