Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi spoke to Nepal Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and discussed the recent incident at KIIT University. Majhi assured Dr. Deuba that his government would take all necessary steps to restore confidence among the students.

“Nepali students are like our own children. They will study here with full dignity and security,” Majhi stated, adding that the government is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to rebuild trust among students.

Additionally, Nepal Embassy officials Naveen Raj Adhikari, Sanjiv Sharma Das also met with Chief Minister Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan. During their discussion, the officials expressed satisfaction with the government’s prompt action and thanked Majhi for his efforts.

The Nepal officials noted that the State government’s response had helped alleviate concerns among Nepalese students and their parents. “The bond between Nepal and Odisha is deep-rooted and historic, and we are confident this relationship will remain strong,” they said.

During the discussion, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Additional Chief Secretary to CM Nikunja Bihari Dhal were present.

Earlier, the founder of KIIT Dr Achyuta Samanta and other functionaries on Friday appeared before the government high-level committee investigating the alleged suicide of a Nepalese student and subsequent attack on students.

The three-member inquiry committee, led by additional chief secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu, is tasked with examining the circumstances leading to the student’s suicide on February 16, the alleged high-handedness of the institute’s administration, and the decision to suspend specific students and shut down the institute for them.
