Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Warning for thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds (40-50 km/h), and hail in Odisha until February 24.
According to the IMD’s weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected in several areas, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
A few other districts like Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati will also experience thunderstorms. However, dry weather is expected in the remaining areas of the state.
An Orange Warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds (40-50 km/h), and hail, especially in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore.
A Yellow Warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) in places like Angul, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
On February 25, light rain or thunderstorms are expected in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Gajapati, and Ganjam, while dry weather will continue in other districts. A Yellow Warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning in a few places of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Keonjhar.
The IMD has advised people to stay updated on the weather and seek safe shelter during thunderstorms to protect themselves from lightning.
There are no weather warnings after February 25.
The IMD has also forecast no major changes in the minimum temperature (night temperature) in Odisha for the next five days.
