Bhubaneswar: The ‘Mahadeepa’ of Lord Lingaraj will be placed atop the temple crown (Dadhinauti) at 10 pm on Maha Shivaratri Day scheduled on February 26.

This was announced by Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Monday.

Speaking to the media, the Law Minister said, “With the blessings of Lord Lingaraj, we plan to lift the ‘Mahadeepa’ at 10 pm. We will make sure everything is done safely.”

He further mentioned that all necessary arrangements are being carefully finalized to allow devotees to perform their prayers without any hindrance.

“We are making sure that devotees can follow the right path for their prayers. We have installed CCTV cameras for security and arranged special entry for devotees, as well as for servitors, their families, and VIPs.”

“We are also making sure that devotees waiting in line can pray comfortably. We are setting up necessary provisions like water and other facilities for their convenience,” he added.

Additionally, he shared that two meetings have already been held between the committees of Lingaraj Temple and local authorities. The Deputy Commissioner of Police and other senior officials have been actively reviewing the safety protocols.
