Sundargarh: The Sundargarh Town Police arrested four persons who were allegedly involved in selling ganja in the town and seized approximately 40kg of ganja.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rupak Kumar Mishra (the main accused), Mohammad Saddam, Munawar Ali, and MD Tasib.
According to Somanath Jena, the Sundargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), the Town Police received a tip-off on Monday morning about the ganja.
In response, the Police Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Sundargarh Town quickly formed a special team to investigate.
“The team arrived at the location and found the four suspects standing in the market with four jute bags. Upon checking, the bags were found to contain ganja. Following this, we followed the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the police seized around 40kg of ganja and arrested all four persons,” he said.
The SDPO confirmed that the main accused, Rupak Kumar Mishra, a conductor with the OSRTC bus service, was the person mainly responsible for planning to sell the ganja in Sundargarh town.
The four suspects will be presented in court today for further legal action.
