Bhubaneswar: Six more KIIT University officials appeared before the high-level committee investigating the death of a Nepali girl student and the subsequent chaos.

The officials, including Chief Proctor PK Pattnaik, Senior Hostel Superintendent Sanhita Mishra, and Assistant Director Smarika Pati, presented themselves before the committee at the State Guest House in Bhubaneswar on Thursday at 10:30 am. Besides, IC head Ipsita Satapathy, Sidharth Ray from the administrative office and one other person were among the six officials deposed before the committee.

The Odisha Higher Education Department had served notices to these officials on Tuesday, directing them to appear before the fact-finding committee.

This development comes after the committee interrogated KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta for two and a half hours. The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and two suspended female staff members had also recorded their statements before the committee chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Odisha Home Department.

It is pertinent to mention that Nepali girl Prakriti Lamsal, a B. Tech third-year student of KIIT University was found dead in her hostel room on February 16 allegedly due to harassment and blackmailing by her ex-boyfriend.
