Notorious Snatcher Injured In Police Encounter

Sambalpur: Notorious snatcher Mahesh Kumar was injured in an encounter at an area under Ainthapalli police limits in Sambalpur district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to reports, the exchange of fire occurred around 5:45 am near the airstrip road. Kumar, who was wanted in connection with a snatching case, sustained a bullet injury on his left leg during the encounter and was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research for treatment.

Police seized a 7mm pistol, two empty rounds of ammunition, and Rs 40,000 in cash from his possession.

It is pertinent to mention that a case was registered against Kumar yesterday for snatching Rs 45,000 from someone at gunpoint.

With Kumar’s arrest, police have solved the snatching case, and further investigation is underway.
