Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced that all degree colleges and state public universities, both government and non-government, will remain open on March 5 (Wednesday).

This decision was confirmed in a notification released by the Higher Education Department on Tuesday.

The official notice stated that all higher educational institutions (HEIs) under the department will function as usual on March 5.

“In inviting a reference to the subject cited above, I am directed to inform you that all HEls coming under the Higher Education Department shall remain open on 05.03.2025 (Wednesday),” the notification read.

Additionally, all government and government-aided schools in Odisha will also remain open on the same day.

It is important to note that March 5 was traditionally observed as a public holiday in Odisha to celebrate Panchayati Raj Dibas.

However, the state government has decided to move this observance to April 24, aligning with the national practice. This change was announced on Monday.
