Bhubaneswar: With the Academic Year 2025-26 commencing from April 1, the state government has decided to organize a state-wide campaign, Pravesh Utsav and Khadi Chhuan, in all schools on April 2.
The campaign will witness the participation of parents, elected representatives, senior officials and civil society members. Besides, the school-level programmes will be conducted from April 3 to 5, 2025, exclusively involving teachers and students.
“The Academic Year 2025-26 will commence from 1 April, 2025. A massive state-wide campaign on “Pravesh Utsav” and “Khadi Chhuan” will be celebrated on 2nd April, 2025 in all schools with participation from parents, elected representatives, senior officials and civil society members. The School level programe will then extend from 3rd to 5th April 2025 with participation of teachers and students exclusively”, read a notification issued by Shalini Pandit, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of School and Mass Education Department to all the District Collectors and Magistrate.
As per the notification, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will distribute the ‘Nimantrana Patra’ (invitation cards) at the state level from March 17 to March 19 to families of children enrolling in ‘Shishu Vatika’ and Class-I.
To ensure the successful celebration of Pravesh Utsav, the district administration has been asked to list students who will enter Shishu Vatika and Class-1 in every elementary school’s catchment area.
Additionally, the district administration will print Nimantrana Patra as per the number of students identified.
The district administration will also coordinate with DEOs, BEOs, and other stakeholders to organize district-level Pravesh Utsav and Khadi Chhuan’ in a selected school and all schools in the district on April 2, 2025. Public representatives, government officers, and eminent members of society will be invited as guests to cover schools during the celebration.
It is pertinent to mention that the School and Mass Education Department announced the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the state, effective January 2025. As part of this initiative, Odisha will adopt the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) with localized adaptations, which will serve as the State Curriculum Framework.
