Bhubaneswar: In a heart-wrenching incident, a stray dog died after coming into contact with an electrified fence erected by a resident of Shankarpur area under Badambadi police station limits in Cuttack.
As per reports, the accused, driven by a desire to keep the dog off his property, had taken the extreme measure of electrifying the fence, with devastating consequences.
The dog, a familiar face in the neighbourhood, had been a victim of circumstance. The dog’s habit of defecating on the man’s property had drawn his ire. Desperate to keep the dog off his property, the accused made the shocking decision to install electrified fencing around his home. Unfortunately, the dog died after it came in contact with the electrified fencing.
However, the brutal method employed by the accused has left residents outraged and demanding justice for the innocent animal.
“It’s unthinkable that someone could resort to such cruelty,” said a resident, adding that the dog was harmless, and its only crime was defecating on the man’s property. Killing the animal is not the solution.”
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for stricter animal welfare laws to prevent such atrocities.
“This is a wake-up call for all of us. We need to ensure that animals are treated with compassion and respect,” said another resident.
In response to the public outcry, Energy Department officials took swift action, disconnecting the power supply to the accused’s home.
