Bhubaneswar: Rajiv Kumar, Vice President (Operations) at Tata Steel Kalinganagar, has resigned from his position. He reportedly submitted his resignation to Tata Steel’s Managing Director and CEO, T.V. Narendran, on Wednesday.
Kumar is an alumnus of the reputed BIT Sindri and joined Tata Steel in the year 1990. With years of experience in Tata Steel Jamshedpur as well as in the Wires Division, he was assigned the key responsibility of leading the Tata Steel Project in Kalinganagar. Kumar’s resignation comes at a challenging time for Tata Steel as he played a key role in the success of the Kalinganagar Project and has been a prominent figure within the company. Having served Tata Steel for over 25 years, he has held various important positions and is recognized for his dedication and leadership.
Kumar’s resignation is a significant change in the senior management of Tata Steel’s operations at the Kalinganagar Plant. The reason for his departure was simply listed as ‘resignation’, with no additional details provided regarding the circumstances or any future plans for Kumar.
Confirming the resignation, Rajesh Rajan, Head of Corporate Communications at Tata Steel, stated, “Rajiv Kumar has resigned from the post of Vice President (Operations), Tata Steel Kalinganagar. We won’t be able to provide any more details as of now.” The company’s disclosure did not elaborate on any plans for filling the vacancy or on any potential impact the resignation might have on the company’s operations.
Kumar has also informed his subordinates and union leaders about his decision. His departure marks a significant transition for the company, and industry experts are keenly watching how Tata Steel navigates this change. Sources say that Kumar is slated to join Vedanta Aluminium as CEO.
Following his resignation, Tata Steel has not yet announced a successor or an interim replacement for the Vice President (Operations) role at Kalinganagar.
