Bhubaneswar: In the wake of a tragic incident involving the drowning of a first-year Civil Engineering student, the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, has issued a strict warning to students against visiting certain hazardous locations.
The university has identified several vulnerable points as off-limits, including the Power Channel, Mahanadi River, Syphon Spillway, Athar Hazar Point, Right Dyke, Jhankarani Mandir, and Fishery Point.
The notice, issued by the VSSUT Registrar on Thursday, emphasizes that any student found violating this directive will face strict disciplinary action.
The decision comes after Priyanshu Prakash Behera, a first-year Civil Engineering student, tragically drowned while bathing in the power channel of Hirakud Dam on the same day.
The university has urged students to adhere to the warning and avoid visiting these dangerous areas at all times. The move aims to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of students on and off campus.
