Bhubaneswar: Three persons died in a collision between a truck and a bike at Dolita Chhak in the Joda area under Champua police station in Keonjhar district, on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Ivan Pradhan, his wife Mathamani Pradhan, and their son Mangal Pradhan, a family from Sanani village.
According to reports, the Pradhan family was en route to visit their daughter when the accident occurred near Dolita Chhak.
A truck, speeding at the time, struck the Pradhan family’s bike, resulting in Ivan’s death at the scene. His wife and son were taken to the Champua Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) in critical condition.
Upon arrival at the Champua SDH, the doctor declared Mathamani Pradhan dead, and Mangal succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
Upon being informed, the Champua police reached the scene and began the investigation.
Meanwhile, the truck driver responsible for the accident fled the scene.
The fatal accident has sparked widespread outrage among locals, who are demanding urgent action for improved road safety measures.
