Bhubaneswar: The 19th Toshali National Crafts Mela is all set to begin today at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the crafts fair, which will run from March 19 to March 31. Over 650 stalls have been set up, featuring a wide range of handicrafts, handlooms, and traditional Odia cuisines. A 2500 square feet theme pavilion, ‘Shilpa Srujanee’, will be the main attraction of the event.
Organized by the Odisha government’s Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, this 13-day event will showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage and promote its handicrafts and handlooms.
The organizers expect a turnout of around 30 lakh footfalls, and to ensure their convenience, arrangements have been made for security, medical assistance, ambulance services, drinking water, toilets, ATMs, and wheelchair facilities for the elderly and differently-abled visitors. A separate childcare room has also been set up for mothers and children.
The event aims to generate Rs 28 crore in business.
