Bhubaneswar: In a heartwarming ceremony, a differently-abled couple from Baragarh district exchanged vows and embarked on a new journey together.

Chanchala Majhi, a resident of Bandhapali village, and Shantanu Matari, hailing from Gambharipanka village in Sambalpur district, tied the knot in a unique ceremony organized by ‘Power of Ability,’ an organization dedicated to empowering differently-abled individuals.

The wedding ceremony, held at a Shiva temple in Baragarh, was attended by various organizations working for the welfare of differently-abled people. Subhas Agrawal, a local resident, performed the ‘Kanyadaan’ ritual, blessing the couple and wishing them a happy and prosperous life together.

Subhas Agrawal said, “I am fortunate enough to perform such ritual in the future, with the blessings of the Almighty.”

Chanchala and Shantanu, both born with disabilities, had been searching for a life partner who could understand and support them. Their families, who had been instrumental in their upbringing, were overjoyed to see them embark on this new journey.

The newlywed couple expressed their joy at having found each other as life partners.

“I never thought I’d get married, but Power of Ability has made my dream a reality,” Chanchala said, beaming with joy and tears of joy in her eyes adding that “I am deeply grateful to them for organizing this wonderful ceremony and bringing us together. I am happy to have found a life partner who understands me. I promise to support him and be his rock in times of need.”

Shyamsundar Agrawal, founder-president of Power of Ability said, “We believe that every individual deserves to live a dignified life, regardless of their abilities. We are committed to empowering differently-abled individuals and promoting inclusivity in our society. Power of Ability has organized such weddings in the past and will continue to do so in the future, upholding this tradition.”
