Bhubaneswar: As many as 6,025 teacher posts remain vacant out of the sanctioned 40,166 in high schools across Odisha, informed School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond in the state Assembly on Friday.
Responding to a query from BJD MLA Byomkesh Ray, Minister Gond assured that the recruitment process is underway to fill these vacancies.
Additionally, the state government is working to fill 1,375 Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) posts in 50 government and 106 upgraded higher secondary schools. Furthermore, 1,061 PGT posts in fully aided higher secondary schools are also being recruited, Minister Gond said.
In the Chandabali Assembly constituency, 163 teacher posts are vacant across 327 primary, upper primary, and secondary schools. Minister Gond clarified that appropriate steps are being taken to fill these vacancies through new appointments and promotions.
