In-Charge Secy Of Durgadevi Co-Op Society Held For Embezzling Govt Fund

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested Girish Chandra Behera, In-charge Secretary of Durgadevi Co-Operative Society in Balasore for misappropriating government funds.

According to reports, Behera diverted an indemnity claim amount of Rs 5.8 lakhs meant for 38 farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) between 2021 and 2023.

A case has been registered against Behera under sections 13(2) and 13(1)(a) of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and section 409 of the IPC at Balasore Vigilance PS (Case No 2/2025). The investigation is ongoing, and Behera is being forwarded to court.
