Bhubaneswar: While the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) of the Central Government today approved four railway projects across the country, two of them are specifically intended for Odisha.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these two projects in Odisha.
He stated that the Prime Minister has consistently focused on the development of Odisha and that the regular approval of significant development projects for the state by the Central Government is a testament to that commitment.
The Chief Minister further said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, Odisha is sure to emerge as a growth engine of the nation. He also extended his thanks to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The two approved projects are:
The third and fourth railway lines between Sambalpur and Jarapada (Talcher and Angul)
The third and fourth railway lines between Jharsuguda and Sason (in Sambalpur)
The Sambalpur–Jarapada project will involve an investment of ₹3,917 crore, while the Jharsuguda–Sason project will require an investment of ₹1,187 crore. Together, the total investment for both projects amounts to ₹5,104 crore.
These multi-track projects are expected to significantly enhance railway transportation in the districts of Sambalpur, Angul, and Jharsuguda. These will streamline railway operations and help reduce congestion.
As per the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, these projects will be implemented to support efficient multimodal connectivity.
