Bhubaneswar: A fire broke out at the Union Bank located on Sarabahal Road in Jharsuguda district early on Sunday morning, damaging important documents and files.
According to reports, local residents noticed smoke billowing out from the bank building during the early hours of Sunday and immediately alerted the fire department.
A fire tender rushed to the scene and managed to contain the flames before they could spread further.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. Sources revealed that the air conditioner (AC) inside the bank was left running after the bank closed on Saturday and the power supply had not been turned off, which could have led to the incident.
Although the building did not sustain significant structural damage, several office files and crucial documents were reportedly destroyed in the fire.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as the bank was closed at the time of the incident.
Bank authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
