Cuttack: Cuttack Rural Police on Friday arrested seven inter-district burglars involved in a series of thefts across several districts.
The arrests were made in connection with recent burglary cases reported in the Salepur area.
Addressing the media, Cuttack SP (Rural) Prateek Singh informed that the police seized 50 grams of gold, 500 grams of silver, Rs 82,000 in cash, a mobile phone, and an ATM card from the accused.
Singh stated that the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to curb property-related and anti-social crimes in the region.
“Several burglary cases had been reported in Salepur, Mahanga, Nischintakoili, and Nemalo. Acting on intelligence inputs and surveillance, police apprehended seven persons who were operating across multiple districts including Kendrapara, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, and Cuttack,” he said.
The accused were reportedly identifying unguarded houses during the night and stealing valuables after breaking in.
A case has been registered against the arrested persons and they were produced before the court on Friday.
