Kandhamal: Gochhapada Police arrested a 31-year-old man on charges of raping a six-year-old girl under its jurisdiction on Thursday evening.
The accused and the victim reside in the same locality. The accused has been identified as Anant Kudei.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the child visited the accused’s home to play, and Kudei allegedly offered her biscuits before committing the crime. The child later fell ill and was taken to Gochhapada Hospital by her parents.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s parents, police arrested Kudei and forwarded him to court.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital in Kandhamal. The child’s condition is reported to be stable, said sources.
