Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is gearing up to celebrate National Panchayati Raj Diwas on April 24 with elaborate programmes across the state, aimed at strengthening grassroots democracy and highlighting rural development initiatives.
According to a directive issued by Dr. Maheswar Swain, Director of the Panchayati Raj Department, preparations are in full swing for celebrations at the state, district, and block levels.
The state-level ceremony will be held in Puri and will be attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with several cabinet ministers. The event will be broadcast live on all leading television channels to ensure broader public participation and engagement.
The Panchayati Raj Department has also emphasized the importance of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities during the celebrations. Hoardings, banners, and sensitization camps will be organized to raise awareness about various government schemes.
Authorities have been instructed to thoroughly document the events and ensure the visibility of IEC materials.
“This is a perfect opportunity to showcase developmental work, engage with citizens, and promote active participation in local governance,” the notification stated.
Collectors and CDO-cum-EOs of Zilla Parishads have been asked to coordinate tour plans with ministers and ensure smooth logistical arrangements for their visits.
The government has urged all district and block-level officials to organize the events in a befitting and impactful manner to ensure the success of this important democratic celebration.
At the district level, ministers have been assigned to specific regions and collectors have been instructed to invite local MPs and MLAs. Block-level programmes will feature the participation of MLAs and local dignitaries.
The administration has also been directed to ensure the presence of stakeholders and citizens during the national event to witness the Prime Minister’s address.
