Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital after a patient allegedly died following a malfunction of the lift carrying her.
The deceased patient has been identified as Minati Parida, a resident of Randia Narsinghpur under Bhadrak Rural Police Station.
According to reports, Minati was rushed to the hospital via 108 ambulance after she suddenly felt unwell. While being shifted to the medicine ward after being provided primary treatment, the lift malfunctioned. There was no staff near the lift, which caused it to suddenly move upwards. Unfortunately, Minati got trapped in the lift and she died due to suffocation. This led to a commotion on the hospital premises.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and pacified the agitated crowd. Police also launched an investigation to determine the cause of the lift malfunction and assess any potential negligence.
