Bhubaneswar: Odisha is reeling under intense heat today, with Jharsuguda recording a scorching 41.8°C by 11:30 am. In total, 21 towns across the state have crossed the 31°C mark, intensifying the ongoing heatwave.
According to the latest data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sambalpur recorded 39.4°C, while Hirakud and Nuapada experienced temperatures of 38.2°C.
Other areas seeing high temperatures include Rourkela at 38.8°C, Phulbani at 37°C, and Sonepur at 38.4°C. Raikela, Chandbali, and Jajpur reported 36.1°C, 36°C, and 36.6°C, respectively.
Kendujhar stood at 35.8°C, while Angul recorded 36.2°C. Gunupur, Balasore, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack saw temperatures of 35.4°C, 35°C, 34.4°C, and 34.4°C, respectively.
The IMD has also issued public advisory urging residents to remain cautious when stepping out during the day. They are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid direct exposure to the sun whenever possible.
