Bhubaneswar: The fifth batch of holy timber meant for Rath Yatra chariot construction reached the pilgrim town of Puri on Monday night.
As per reports, 28 pieces of wood, including 16 dhaura and 12 asana logs, reached Puri on Monday night from the Kantamala range of the Boudh Division.
With this batch, a total of 169 pieces of timber have now arrived in Puri across five phases. While 51 pieces of wood from the previous year are still available, 814 more pieces are still required for the construction of the three majestic chariots.
According to sources, 488 more pieces of timber are expected to arrive in the coming phases.
The sacred Rath Yatra preparations will gain momentum with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on Wednesday, marking the beginning of the chariot construction work.
