Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for several districts in Odisha, alerting residents to potential severe weather conditions.
According to the nowcast warning issued by the regional weather office at 10:15 AM, a moderate thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph is expected to affect parts of Koraput, Kalahandi, Balangir and Bargarh within the next two to three hours.
Residents in these areas are advised to be prepared for minor damage to loose or unsecured structures, banana trees, and standing crops.
The IMD recommends keeping a close watch on the weather for worsening conditions and being ready to move to safer places if necessary.
Additionally, the IMD has warned of light to moderate thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rain in parts of Nabrangpur, Rayagada, Boudh, and Kandhamal districts within the next three hours. These districts have been issued a yellow warning.
People in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from lightning strikes and be prepared to seek shelter in safer locations.
