Bhubaneswar: The Superintendent of Excise, Dhenkanal, was arrested by Vigilance on Wednesday while carrying unaccounted cash of Rs. 3 lakhs in Dhenkanal.
The vigilance sleuths intercepted Krishna Nayak near Deulasahi Road in Dhenkanal on Tuesday with unaccounted cash of Rs 3 lakh. Nayak will be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at five locations connected to Nayak, revealing disproportionate assets, including two multi-storeyed buildings in Cuttack and Puri, eight high-value plots, two benami cars (under verification) and deposits exceeding Rs. 20 lakhs.
A case has been registered against Nayak under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at Cell Division PS (Vigilance), Case No. 4/2025. The investigation is underway.
