Boudh: A wedding procession in Junani village, under Palasagora panchayat in Boudh district, turned chaotic today when a swarm of honey bees attacked the participants. The incident, which occurred in the afternoon, left four people critically injured and 20 others hurt.
The group, hailing from Laida village under Manamunda police limits, had arrived in Junani to prepare for a wedding procession. As they gathered near the village’s entry point, a swarm of bees, likely disturbed from a nearby tree, launched an aggressive attack. The sudden assault caused panic among the wedding party, with many sustaining multiple stings.
All the injured were immediately rushed to the Subarnapur District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. The four critically injured individuals are under close medical supervision, while the others are receiving care for their injuries.
