Bhubaneswar: The Foreign Affairs Minister of Nepal, Arzu Rana Deuba, expressed deep sadness over the death of Prisha Shah, a Nepali student studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University and initiated diplomatic initiatives to investigate the truth behind the incident.

As per reports, the body of Prisha, a Nepali student pursuing a B.Tech course at the institution, was found in her hostel room number 111 of campus number 4, and the incident is currently under investigation.

The deceased student was reportedly from Birgunj, Nepal. The reason behind her death has not been confirmed yet, and the police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The incident, suspected to be a case of suicide, has sent shockwaves through the KIIT University community and beyond.

Taking to her X handle, Deuba prayed for Prisha’s soul’s eternal peace and extended condolences to her family. She stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has initiated diplomatic initiatives to investigate the truth behind the incident through high-ranking officials of the Government of India, the Government of Odisha, and the Nepali Embassy in Delhi.

Her tweet reads: “The incident of Prisha Shah, a Nepali student studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Odisha, India, being found dead in her hostel room has left us deeply saddened. I pray for the eternal peace of Prisha’s soul and express my deepest condolences to her family at this sad hour. Immediately after the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated diplomatic initiatives to investigate the truth through high-ranking officials of the Government of India, the Government of Odisha, and the Nepali Embassy in Delhi.”

Meanwhile, the Odisha government expressed grief and pledged full support to the bereaved family. Police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding Prisha’s death and provide necessary assistance to her family.

It is pertinent to mention that this incident follows a similar case last February, where another Nepalese student died by suicide in KIIT, sparking widespread outrage and protests from fellow students.
