Bhubaneswar: Two police personnel of Jaleswar police station were injured while foiling an extortion attempt near Shantia on National Highway 60 under Jaleswar police jurisdiction in Balasore district.
As per reports, some miscreants demanded money from a truck driver when the latter was having tea along with his helper near Shantia Square. When they refused to pay, the miscreants brutally beat the driver. On a tip-off, a sub-inspector and a female constable reached the spot to nab the miscreants.
The miscreants unexpectedly turned aggressive, attacking the police personnel, including the SI, injuring them, rather than fleeing or surrendering when confronted.
Despite being attacked, the police managed to apprehend four miscreants involved in the extortion racket.
