Boudh: Kalabaisakhi wreaked havoc in Baunsuni in Boudh district on Saturday evening, causing significant damage and disrupting connectivity.
The tempest uprooted trees along the Khordha-Balangir National Highway 57, blocking roads and severing communication between Baunsuni and Manmunda. Hundreds of vehicles remain stranded on both sides of the highway due to the obstructions.
The storm also tore off the roofs of several homes in the area, though detailed reports on the extent of property damage are yet to be confirmed. Power supply across Baunsuni has been disrupted, plunging the region into darkness.
Responding promptly, the Baunsuni fire brigade cleared fallen trees near a school to restore partial access along the highway.
However, information about other affected sections of the road remains limited. Local authorities are working to assess the full scope of the damage and restore normalcy to the storm-hit area.
