Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu for granting in-principle approval for a Greenfield airport in Puri.
Majhi took to social media to thank the PM and Civil Aviation Minister, stating that the decision will significantly boost religious tourism, regional development, and connectivity in the region.
Taking to his X account, he wrote: “Thanks to Hon’ble PM Sri Narendra Modi and Sri Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of Civil Aviation for granting of in-principle approval for establishment of a Greenfield airport in #Puri. This decision will provide a major boost to religious tourism, regional development & overall connectivity in the region.”
Notably, the announcement, part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s commitment to expanding air connectivity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, also includes approval for a similar airport in Kota, Rajasthan.
The proposed Greenfield airport in Puri is expected to enhance direct connectivity between the city and major metropolitan cities, giving a significant boost to religious tourism, regional development, and overall connectivity in Odisha.
By improving air travel infrastructure, the project aligns with the government’s objective of strengthening last-mile connectivity and making air travel more accessible.
