Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved the “Constituency Wise Allocation (CWA)” scheme, a ₹426 crore initiative aimed at constructing and improving rural development (RD) roads across 142 Assembly Constituencies in Odisha. The scheme, set to run from 2024-25 to 2026-27, will enhance connectivity in rural areas by upgrading roads that are incomplete or in need of improvement, benefiting local communities with better access to essential services and economic hubs.
The CWA scheme focuses on improving specific sections of RD roads to provide seamless connectivity to educational institutions, medical facilities, block and gram panchayat headquarters, market places, and tourist spots. By addressing gaps in rural road infrastructure, the initiative aims to uplift the quality of life for rural populations and foster socio-economic development.
With the 2024-25 financial year already concluded, the state government has planned to allocate funds for two years in the 2025-26 financial year, enabling the completion of two years’ worth of projects within that period. The three-year scheme underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring equitable development across Odisha’s constituencies.
The Cabinet’s approval marks a significant step toward improving rural connectivity, with the potential to transform access to critical services and boost local economies in Odisha’s rural heartlands.
