Bhubaneswar: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik paid homage to the Indian Armed Forces with an evocative sand sculpture created at Puri beach on Saturday.
The artwork celebrates the courage and unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation, with a message that reads, “Salute to Indian Armed Forces.”
The sculpture, which drew considerable public attention, features a soldier standing with outstretched arms, symbolically shielding a peacefully sleeping infant. This powerful imagery represents the protection provided by the armed forces, allowing civilians—especially women and children—to rest safely in their homes.
Pattnaik’s tribute goes beyond honoring bravery; it also highlights India’s robust air defence capabilities.
A striking detail of the sculpture is the inscription “Salute to Indian Armed Forces, Operation Sindoor” carved into the sand, with the word “Sindoor” rendered in vivid red vermilion, symbolising sacrifice and protection. The visual, both aesthetically impactful and emotionally resonant, has resonated widely with the public.
Sharing the sculpture on social media, Pattnaik wrote, “Saluting the Indian Armed Forces for their courage and for protecting our mothers and children, allowing them to sleep safely at home. We stand united. Jai Hind. #OperationSindoor.”
