Bhubaneswar: The Paradip Port Authority has taken a proactive stance amid rising national alertness, cancelling the leaves of all officers and employees, including regular and contractual staff, until further notice.

The Paradip Port Trust has cancelled leaves for all personnel involved in port operations, including marine staff, security, dock workers, engineers, logistics, and support staff, to ensure uninterrupted operations and maximum preparedness amid heightened sensitivity.

This decision, announced through an official directive on Saturday, aims to ensure maximum workforce availability in light of the current tense situation between India and Pakistan.

A full-scale preparedness drill was conducted at the Paradip Port today, with sirens heard in restricted zones. The drill aimed to evaluate emergency response mechanisms, focusing on the South Oil Jetty area and the CISF Fire Wing Station. Port fire services, security teams, and emergency handling units participated to test their real-time reaction capabilities.

The port administration cited potential threats to key national infrastructures as the primary reason for this precautionary measure. By revoking leaves, the authority seeks to maintain operational readiness and security at the port, reflecting its commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
