Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Shambhu Prasad Singh, a Head Constable of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), in Sundargarh district, on charges of accepting a bribe.
The arrest took place in Bimalgarh, where Singh was allegedly caught red-handed while taking the bribe, according to a CBI statement.
The case stemmed from a complaint registered on May 8, alleging that two RPF personnel demanded a bribe from an individual to permit him to operate a dhaba-cum-barber shop on railway land in Barsuan. The CBI set up a sting operation, leading to Singh’s arrest during the transaction.
Singh was presented before the CBI special court in Bhubaneswar, which remanded him to judicial custody until May 15. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain further details and potential involvement of others.
