Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack arrested 11 persons on Sunday in connection with an attack and shooting at a security guard at a bar in the Chandrasekharpur area of the city.
The incident took place at the ‘Cosmos Bar,’ and the arrested persons have been identified as Badal Swain of Puri, Chinmay Kumar Dey of Jajpur, Sahil Das of Dhenkanal, Omkar Patra of Cuttack, Ranjit Kumar Sahoo of Cuttack, Alok Kumar Sahoo of Cuttack, Achyutananda Lenka of Kendrapada, Jagrat Panda of Jajpur, Babru Pradhan of Puri, Asit Patra of Khurda, and Rajesh Nayak of Khurda.
This was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, BBSR – Cuttack, S. Dev Datta Singh, in a press briefing at Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
“These arrested persons fired at a security guard at ‘Cosmos Bar,’ but his condition is not critical. The security guard had previously worked with them at the bar. The 11 arrested persons arrived late at night when the bar was closed. They forced the security guard to open the bar, but when he refused as it was already closed, they became angry and fired at him. As a result, the security guard was injured by a bullet in his leg, but he is now undergoing treatment,” said S. Dev Datta Singh.
During the investigation, the police also seized two live rounds of ammunition, three used rounds of ammunition, and two motorcycles.
“Until now, we have not recovered any firearms, but the used firearms will be seized soon. Other persons involved in this case will also be arrested shortly,” he added.
