Rourkela Police Arrest One In Bike Theft Case

Bhubaneswar: The Rourkela Sector-3 Police Station on Sunday apprehended one person in connection with a motorcycle theft near Jagda NIT Gate under Sector-3 Police Station of Sundargarh District.

The accused has been identified as Rajesh Sindhriya alias Bangri (29), son of the late Luku Sindhriya, a resident of Jagda Backside (JB/04), Sector-3, Rourkela, Sundargarh District.

According to an official press release, a complaint was filed by Subham Kumar Behera (28), a Ph.D. student at the Department of Life Sciences, NIT Rourkela, residing in Room No. D/228, V.S. Hall of Residence, NIT Rourkela. The complaint, lodged on April 26, 2025, at 10:00 pm, alleged the theft of Behera’s motorcycle.

The complainant reported that on April 25, 2025, at approximately 11:00 am, he had parked his black-and-white Yamaha SR motorcycle (Registration No. OR02BX 8066, Chassis No. ME11PM034C2026254, Engine No. 1PM3026251) near Jagda Gate, NIT Rourkela, beside the BSNL staff quarters. Upon returning at 7:00 pm, he found his motorcycle missing from the location where it had been parked.

During the investigation, police recovered two stolen motorcycles from the rented house of the accused. The accused, upon interrogation, admitted to stealing the Yamaha motorcycle near Jagda NIT Gate, as well as another motorcycle, a Hero Honda Passion Pro, from Chhend Market.

The police have since seized both stolen bikes:

  1. Yamaha SR (Registration No. OR-02-BX-8066, black and white)
  2. Hero Honda Passion Pro (Registration No. OR 14 T 5517, red).
