Sambalpur: In a significant crackdown, Thelkoloi police in Sambalpur district seized 23 high-end trucks transporting fly ash without valid transit permits. The seizure was made late last night near the Thelkuli Government High School.
According to reports, the trucks were being unloaded when the police intercepted them. Poilice are now investigating the owners and transporters of the vehicles, as well as the industrial units involved in the fly ash transportation.
This action follows a recent letter from the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) to the police, urging them to take action against illegal fly ash transportation. The OSPCB had highlighted concerns about the fly ash mafia carrying lethal cargo and dumping it indiscriminately, posing environmental and health risks.
