Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for parts of Gajapati and Ganjam districts, predicting moderate thunderstorms with lightning and strong surface winds reaching 40-50 kmph, accompanied by light to moderate rain, in the next two to three hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 2pm, the thunderstorm may cause minor damage to loose or unsecured structures and banana trees. Standing crops may also experience some damage due to the strong winds and rain.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on the weather for any worsening conditions. They are also advised to be prepared to move to safer places if necessary.
The IMD has urged people to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the thunderstorm.
