Rayagada: A group of 8-10 armed robbers stormed into the house of a businessman in Sikarapai village under Kalyansinghpur police limits around midnight and attacked him and his family members before decamping with gold and silver ornaments.
According to reports, armed robbers, who arrived in a Bolero vehicle, barged into the house of Gopal Chetty Upendra. The robbers, brandishing sharp weapons, attacked Upendra and his family members, overpowering them with ease.
The robbers made off with gold ornaments weighing around 14 tolas, which belonged to Upendra’s wife, and an old almirah containing approximately 10-11 kg of silver. Upendra suffered minor injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment.
Upon being informed, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gaurahari Sahu rushed to the scene along with Kalyansingpur police and began an investigation to track down the culprits and recover the stolen valuables.
