Two Minor Brothers Drown In Canal In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: In a devastating incident, two minor brothers lost their lives after drowning in a canal at Aukhma village under Dhenkanal Sadar police station in the district on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Om Sahu (17) and his younger brother Som Sahu (14), sons of Lala Sahu.

According to reports, the brothers were playing near the Raidih Rengali Canal on Wednesday afternoon when Som accidentally fell into the water. In a bid to save his younger brother, Om jumped into the canal, but both ended up drowning.

Villagers launched a search operation and rescued the brothers, who were rushed to the district headquarters hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors declared both dead on arrival.

The incident has sent shockwaves in the village.
