CM Majhi Congratulates Odisha Women’s Hockey Team On Bringing Gold At Khelo India Youth Games

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi extended his warmest congratulations to the Odisha women’s hockey team after their impressive victory at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025. The team clinched the gold medal by defeating Jharkhand 3-1 in a thrilling shootout.

In a tweet, CM Majhi expressed his pride in the team’s achievement and wished the team all the best for their future endeavours, saying, “Many congratulations and best wishes to the Odisha women’s hockey team for winning the gold medal by defeating Jharkhand by 3-1 in the shootout at the Khelo India Youth Games—2025. The state is proud of your success. I wish you all the best and success.”

Captain Drupati Naik played an instrumental role in the triumph of the Odisha girls team, scoring twice in the shootout of the title clash. She also scored once in the semifinals to lead Odisha to 2-1 win against Madhya Pradesh.

She netted two goals in the title clash against Jharkhand, helping her team secure a 3-1 win in the shootout. Earlier, Naik had also scored a vital goal in the semifinals, leading Odisha to a 2-1 victory over Madhya Pradesh. Her impressive performance played a significant role in Odisha’s gold medal win at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025.

Odisha girls team coach Florencia Ekka attributed the gold medal to the players’ hard work and dedication, also crediting the Odisha Government for its support.
