Bhubaneswar: Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia announced plans to open a dedicated help desk in the state capital to support the welfare of daily labourers.
During his visit to Shramik Hata in Nayapalli, the Minister came up with this announcement after interacting with workers.
According to the Labour Minister, the help desk will offer support with operating the Shramik Sathi mobile app, facilitating access to job cards, and addressing other related concerns.
He assured workers that all their pending issues would be resolved within a month.
Singkhuntia stated, “I visited to assess whether our department is implementing its initiatives effectively and to evaluate the ground situation. Our BJP government aims to ensure that all schemes reach every village and that villagers are informed about the available facilities. During my visit, I sought to determine if our department has successfully raised awareness among Odisha’s labourers about the benefits they can access.”
Singkhuntia noted that about 90% of labourers are unaware of the benefits available to them. To address this, camps will be organised for on-the-spot registrations, enabling people to access benefits like marriage and death assistance without hassle. He highlighted the challenge of many labourers being unaware and unregistered for the schemes meant for them. There are 50 lakh labourers in Odisha, but these people are not included in that.
