Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court will remain closed from May 19 to June 16 for its annual summer vacation. However, vacation benches will sit on specific dates to hear urgent matters, the court said in a notification issued today.
The vacation benches will be active on May 20, May 23, May 27, May 30, June 3, June 4, June 10 and June 13.
On May 20 and May 23, a two-judge bench comprising Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo and Justice MS Sahoo, along with a single-judge bench of Justice BP Satpathy, will hear urgent cases.
On May 27, the two-judge bench of Justice KR Mahapatra and Justice MS Sahoo will preside, while single-judge benches of Justice V Narasingh, Justice BP Satpathy and Justice SK Mishra will also be in session.
On May 30, the two-judge bench of Justice KR Mahapatra and Justice MS Sahoo will sit again. Single-judge benches of Justice BP Satpathy, Justice SK Mishra and Justice AC Sahu will also be available to hear urgent matters.
On June 3 and June 4, a two-judge bench comprising Justice BP Satpathy and Justice MS Raman, along with their respective single-judge benches, will hear cases.
On June 10 and June 13, Justice Aditya Kumar Mahapatra and Justice MS Raman will form the division bench, while both judges will also preside individually. Additionally, on June 13, Justice Gourisankar Satpathy will sit as a single-judge bench to hear urgent matters.
The High Court clarified that these benches will operate solely for the purpose of hearing urgent cases during the vacation period.
