Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday visited Boudh district to review ongoing developmental projects and administrative activities.
Chairing a review meeting at the District Collector’s Conference Hall, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the district’s progress but stressed the need to expedite delayed works and maintain quality standards.
During the meeting, it was revealed that a road project worth Rs 28 crore has recently been initiated to enhance connectivity in the region. Additionally, major infrastructure projects—including a 300-bed hospital, a new bus stand, and a railway station—are nearing completion and are expected to be inaugurated soon.
The Chief Minister interacted with the District Collector and senior officials, seeking updates on the progress of various departmental works. He directed the administration to accelerate sluggish projects and ensure their completion within stipulated timelines.
Majhi held detailed discussions on key sectors such as rural development, road and transport infrastructure, healthcare, education, irrigation, agriculture, women empowerment, and industry. He appreciated the implementation of several flagship schemes, including Mission Shakti, the Mid-Day Meal Programme, the Chief Minister’s Antyodaya Scheme, and public grievance redressal initiatives.
“Significant progress has been made in improving roads, bridges, drinking water supply, and health and education infrastructure. I congratulate the officers and staff for their dedication,” said the Chief Minister. He, however, cautioned against complacency, calling for stricter inspection mechanisms to ensure quality and transparency.
Emphasizing public participation, Majhi said, “Local people must be informed and involved in the development process. Their input is essential to ensure transparency and community ownership.”
He acknowledged challenges such as land acquisition delays, funding constraints, and manpower shortages, and assured state-level support to resolve these issues. “If required, I will personally intervene,” he added.
Calling for focused attention on education, health, sports, and agriculture, the Chief Minister directed the administration to prioritize infrastructure development in schools and hospitals, and to modernize agricultural facilities. He instructed officials to prepare an action plan accordingly.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to good governance, Majhi stated, “There must be transparency in all government schemes and efficient use of public funds. Any irregularities will be dealt with immediately.”
Taking a swipe at the previous regime, he said, “The former government had deviated from the path of progress in Boudh. Our government is committed to making it a model district.” He announced plans to develop sectors such as industry, tourism, and renewable energy, and directed that a detailed development roadmap be prepared within a month.
The meeting was attended by MP Sukanta Kumar Panigrahi, Boudh MLA Saroj Kumar Pradhan, Kantamal MLA Kanhai Charan Danga, IG of Security Niti Shekhar, District Collector Subrat Kumar Panda, SP Rahul Goel, Additional District Collector Aniruddha Padhan, CDO-cum-Executive Officer Pravas Chandra Dandasena, Sub-Collector Prabin Kumar Banua, and other district-level officials.
