Bhubaneswar: At least 30 people were injured following a bee attack near Hindol Chhak in Dhenkanal district on Tuesday morning.
The incident has sparked concern among local residents, who have urged the administration to take immediate steps to address the recurring issue.
According to sources, a large banyan tree in the area is home to over 20 beehives. The bees have reportedly attacked passersby on several occasions in the past.
“Today morning, the bees suddenly attacked people walking by. Around 30 persons were injured and had to be rushed to the Hindol Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment,” said a local resident.
Eyewitnesses claim that despite repeated incidents, no concrete action has been taken by the authorities. Several victims expressed their frustration, citing a lack of preventive measures or awareness campaigns.
“I was simply walking to have tea when the bees attacked me. I was stung on my face, eyes, ears, and hands. It’s extremely painful,” said a resident of Hindol village who was among those injured.
