Dr. Srinivasan was widely regarded as a key architect of India’s civil nuclear energy programme. His illustrious career with the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) spanned more than five decades, beginning in September 1955.
A close associate of Dr. Homi Bhabha, Dr. Srinivasan played a pivotal role in the construction of Apsara, India’s first nuclear research reactor, which attained criticality in August 1956. His lifelong contributions significantly shaped India’s atomic energy capabilities and laid the foundation for self-reliance in the nuclear sector.
The scientific community, along with national leaders, continues to pay homage to a man whose legacy will endure in India’s nuclear and technological advancement.
