Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for multiple districts in Odisha, warning of moderate thunderstorms and gusty winds.
According to the IMD, a moderate thunderstorm alert has been issued for Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Koraput, Nayagarh, Puri, and Rayagada districts. Wind speeds are expected to reach 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, and rain is expected. The alert is valid until 10:00 AM today and covers an area of approximately 43,900.73 square kilometres.
Additionally, a watch alert has been issued for Angul, Balangir, Bhadrak, Boudh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, and Nuapada districts. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in these districts, which are isolated places with wind speeds of 30-40 kmph and rain.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to be aware of the weather conditions and take necessary precautions. The IMD will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
