Sundargarh: A Special POCSO Court in Sundargarh today convicted one Jiten Lohar in a 2021 case involving the attempted assault of a minor girl under Hemgir police limits.
The court sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of ₹11,000.
If Lohar fails to pay the fine, he will face an additional 7 months in jail. Additionally, the court ordered compensation of ₹50,000 to the victim’s family for rehabilitation.
The verdict underscores the judiciary’s strict stance on crimes against minors under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
